Quiara Alegría Hudes

Rik and I have deep orgullo (pride) in the artistry, advocacy, accomplishments and passion of our beloved niece, playwright Quiara Alegría Hudes, who received a Pulitzer Prize for her drama Water By The Spoonful and a Tony award for Best Musical, In The Heights. Quiara was a baby in a basket underneath my grand piano as I composed scores, sat at my elbow on the Big Apple Circus bandstand, and as a five year old in her Easter dress, came to CBGBs to hear Linda Hudes Power Trio. A multi-cultural, diverse family provided Quiara with maximum exposure to and appreciation of the broadest variety of arts and expression. Please enjoy her current projects, the movie release of In The Heights and her memoir, My Broken Language.
